May, Projects and Special.....

Can't believe May is upon us! School will be out soon and I can not wait!! I know I am a children's shop, but I have some really cute jewelry that would make a good graduation gift for some Seniors! Not to mention these for your Kindergarten graduate.....

And on to projects....

I do promise to go ahead and take pictures of Emily's room and post them this weekend. I have yet to find a rug for her room or Euro pillows for her bed. I have EXACTLY what I want in my mind and you know how that goes.....

I did visit the paint counter at Home Depot quite a bit over the last couple of weeks. I have great intentions on painting my kitchen island, and dare I say maybe even my cabinets! I absolutely HATE to paint cabinets and furniture. But, I do love a good transformation so that's what keeps me going :)

Ok, so I have lived with brown walls for 8 years, which I did love, but wanted to brighten up the room a bit. So I grabbed paint samples, enough that literally would be embarrassing to quote! Here is a terrible picture of what the color was before.....

Like I said from a previous posting, I painted my living room twice because the paint sample looked really really light, but as I rolled on the wall it started looking like this............

And then, you start playing the mind game..... I will just give it some time to dry and maybe it will dry lighter, or maybe I should start on another wall with more light and maybe it will look better......

well, it did look "better", but are people just supposed to ignore the seafoam/aqua adjacent wall??? So you play the game again..... just maybe if I squint a little then it will look right. I just hated waisting time and two gallons of paint....but I did waist the time, but the paint was put to good use and you will see why in a minute.

So back again to Home Depot, and this time I got MORE paint samples, came back home and then back up there to purchase this color...........

It is very light and I am very pleased with the color. As you can see, I came to a point where I asked myself if I would like to stay up a few more hours and paint the dining room OR see to it another time.....I guess you know which one I chose.

Then I decided the other paint color could go on the floor here..........

Some of you might have seen this up at Highland's Antique Mall over the last week......

Well, we are adding to it.....

A space became available and it got my wheels a turning.....

In this business and any business really, exposure is key, but with the economy like it is, advertising had to start being really creative on our end and the higher advertising expenses had to unfortunately take the back burner for awhile.

After doing some research it just made sense to set up a "shop" in a high foot traffic area to direct them to our Westgate location. And if we sold some things of course that would be a bonus!  It also gave me a good excuse to move some unwanted pieces of furniture from my home and storage. And I hope to apply some of my projects that are constantly screaming in my mind to create them in real life for you to enjoy. Like the pom poms that EVERYONE asks about hanging in the shop....they will be for sale soon, along with those cute paper banners that are shown above.

Another adventure to our adventuresome life!

Before I say farewell to this post here is a special weekend coupon.......

Enjoy!

My favorite picture is the work in progress one. I love the coffee cup on the fireplace mantle. That is so you (and me ;)

It looks awesome. I love deep color around the fireplace. Awesome Katie!
